Every field measurement changes the model.
Measure → analyse → diagnose → simulate → decide → execute → record → learn. Measured data stays separate from assumptions, derived outputs and simulations.

MAGNITUDE 7 INTELLIGENCE CONTROL DECK
STATE → EVIDENCE → DECISION → ACTIONKnow the soil before the crop enters the soil.
This operating layer turns a Zambian field — from the Kalahari sands of the west to the leached red soils of the north — into a measurable decision system: soil texture, pH, salinity, organic matter, water-holding capacity, drainage and nutrients determine what can grow, what is limiting growth, and what must be corrected before planting.

—LAND INTELLIGENCE COMMAND DECK
LIVE FROM SHARED LAND STATECharacterise the root zone before choosing the crop.
Enter measured or provisional values. The engine keeps the inputs visible so assumptions can be replaced by laboratory and field data.
BASELINE CONTROL ROOM
MEASURE → VERIFY → LOCKMatch the plant to the soil — then design the correction.
FAO land-suitability classes (S1 highly suitable · S2 suitable with care · S3 marginal · N not suitable as it is) for 17 Zambian crops. The weakest factor sets the class: pH, texture, drainage, water holding, nutrient holding, salinity, stones and the season. Not a promise of yield.

CROP FIT LAB
SELECT → STRESS TEST → TRACEDo not fight the crop. Fix the root-zone constraint.
pH changes nutrient availability. Salinity changes the plant’s ability to take up water. Correction must be based on measured soil and irrigation-water conditions rather than a generic recipe.
pH diagnosis
Salinity diagnosis
IF ACIDIC
Confirm pH and buffering capacity. Liming materials can raise pH, but rate depends on soil type, target pH and neutralizing value. Avoid guessing tonnes/ha without a test.
IF ALKALINE
Separate high pH from salinity and calcareous conditions. Organic matter, irrigation-water quality, sulfur-based amendments and fertigation strategy may have roles, but the intervention depends on the cause.
IF SALTY
Check EC in soil and irrigation water, drainage and sodium risk. Leaching requires adequate-quality water and drainage; increasing fertilizer alone can worsen osmotic stress.
CORRECTION SIMULATOR
NO BLIND AMENDMENTEvery nutrient has a job. Missing one can become the bottleneck.
The engine distinguishes nutrient requirement, availability and delivery. Sandy soil deserves special attention because nutrients and water can move below the active root zone quickly.

NUTRIENT CONTROL DESK
DEMAND / AVAILABILITY / DELIVERYWhat stops a plant from growing — and what lets it grow.
Growth is treated as a system: genetics + temperature + water + oxygen + nutrients + pH + salinity + roots + light + pest/disease pressure. The weakest factor can dominate the result.
Growth equation
Potential output = area × baseline yield × stress factor.
Management response
LIMITER SIMULATION LAB
WEAKEST FACTOR → ACTIONIf this land is sandy, manage the speed at which water and nutrients leave.
Sandy soil can be highly workable, but the root-zone system is less forgiving of irregular irrigation, high single-dose fertilizer applications, low organic matter and poor wind management.
WATER
- Shorter, more frequent irrigation events may fit high-drainage conditions.
- Monitor root-zone moisture rather than watering only by calendar.
- Account for emitter output and distribution uniformity.
NUTRIENTS
- Split applications reduce the risk of nutrient movement below roots.
- Track nitrate and potassium especially carefully.
- Organic matter can improve retention and biological activity.
PHYSICAL RISK
- Wind erosion and surface drying.
- Low aggregation and low water-holding capacity.
- Compaction can still occur below the surface despite a sandy topsoil.
SAND WATCH CONTROL LAB
WATER SPEED / NUTRIENT MOVEMENT / ROOT-ZONE RETENTIONTurn the land diagnosis into blocks, plants, water and a controlled crop plan.
This keeps the original area/density/block calculation architecture, but points it at Zambian land preparation and crop establishment.

| Model | Equation | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Area | A = length × width ÷ 10,000 | Convert field dimensions to hectares. |
| Plant population | N = A × 10,000 ÷ (row spacing × plant spacing) | Estimate plants from geometry; spacings are converted from cm to m. |
| Fertilizer material | M = target nutrient × area ÷ fertilizer fraction | Convert nutrient requirement to product mass. |
| Daily irrigation volume | V = A × ETc ÷ efficiency × 10 | Approximate m³/day from mm/day; 1 mm over 1 ha = 10 m³. |
| Gross production | G = A × Y | Area × baseline yield. |
| Stress-adjusted production | Yf = A × Y × S | Applies a bounded stress factor S to the baseline production model. |
| Growth limiter | S ≈ min(Swater, Snutrient, SpH, Ssalinity, Sroot, Spest) | Exposes the bottleneck instead of averaging away a severe constraint. |
